TWO PEOPLE, YOU SHOULD NOT LEAN ON

As I woke up this morning, God started dealing with me afresh on the issue of who and what I put my trust in.

He told me that He will cut away everything I’m leaning on until I realize that He’s all I’ve got.

Friends, sometimes some disappointments may be orchestrated by God, especially if He loves you and needs you to get your attention by all means.

Here’s what He said:

Who or what are you leaning on for strength and success? Are you leaning on the approval and help of other people? That is a very shaky foundation. People are going to let you down. Nobody can hold you up all the time even if they want to, because they’re humans.

You can’t even trust in yourself. Have you discovered that you often let yourself down? You make promises to yourself all the time you don’t keep. If you say, “I’ll just depend on me!” you’ll disappoint yourself. So what do you do?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5 NIV)

Leaning on the Lord is scary. It’s uncomfortable sometimes. It can make you think, “Is God going to come through? Is He going to hold me up?” But that’s what leaning in faith is all about.

I ask again, what are you leaning on? Christ is the solid Rock that can never let you down.

Have you ever experienced a point where you’ve been let down by people or yourself? Let’s hear your story in the comment box.

  1. Ahmed Unekwu says:

They were a few people I planted my faith in for breakthrough in life. God in his perfect wisdom had to take them out of my life so I can acknowledge his ways and thoughts as higher than mine.

    Thanks for the edification!
